Step 1. Before paying for on-line calculations, please run a test to see if our calculations (Java applets) will run on your computer:
Enter the password "test" below (lowercase without the quotes) then return to this page (Registration page). If the words "Not registered user" change to "All features enabled" and the "Click to Calculate" button works and adds the two numbers, then your computer will work fine with all of our website calculations after entering a purchased PIN number.
If you do not see the applet below (it adds two numbers, A+B), then go to http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp to see if you have Java on your computer and to download Java. You may need to hit Refresh in your browser for "All features enabled" to appear after entering the PIN.
After testing, be sure to delete the test cookie from your computer by clicking the "Delete Cookie" button below. If you don't, our home page will say "Welcome Registered User" (since it says that for any cookie set by our server), but none of the calculations will work except the test calculation. You won't be able to enter a purchased PIN until the test cookie is deleted. The test cookie will automatically be deleted after a day..

How our on-line calculations system works
Once you receive a calculations PIN, go to the LMNO Engineering home
page, http://www.LMNOeng.com, and type it in. A program will automatically check
if your PIN is valid. If the PIN is valid, then a cookie will
be saved to your computer. The cookie indicates how many computers can use your PIN
and the duration purchased. You will not have to re-type the PIN on future visits to our
website unless you use a different computer. If you routinely use different brands of web
browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc) on the same computer, each browser
is recognized as a different computer; so try to avoid using different browsers from the
same computer unless you have excess licenses. Your access time (duration) is determined
based on the first date and time you type the PIN into our home page. Date and time
are determined by our server. For example, if you paid for 7 days of access and type in
the password on May 2, 2005, at 8:00 AM, then your PIN expires May 9, 2005, at 8:00 AM. It
doesn't matter how many times you visit the website during those 7 days. If you type
in the same PIN on a second computer on May 4, 2005, at 11:00 AM, the expiration for the
second computer will also be May 9, 2005, at 8:00 AM. If you go back and forth between web
pages, you may need to hit the Refresh button for "All features enabled" to
appear in some browsers.
Conditions
of use
All of our web pages and programs/calculations are copyrighted. This means that the
.asf, .htm, .html, .shtml, .GIF, .jpg, and .class files are the property of LMNO
Engineering, Research, and Software, Ltd., and you cannot modify, copy, or redistribute
them for profit or not for profit without our permission. This limitation, of course,
does not apply to the web page output (what you see on the screen). You may print out any
of the screens on our website and photocopy, distribute, and use them for profit or
otherwise without limitation so long as you include our copyright notices - this allows,
for example, engineering consulting firms to include our web pages in their reports to
clients. Some web browsers do not print Java applets. If you have trouble
printing, please see our printing suggestions.
If you purchase stand-alone software from us, you are authorized to load it on up to 50 computers and/or load it on an intranet. In no way are you authorized to load the software on a publicly-accessible web server without the express permission of LMNO Engineering, Research, and Software, Ltd.
Cookies
What is a cookie? A cookie is a line of information that is saved to a special file on
your hard disk created by your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari,
etc.). Most browsers are set to accept cookies automatically. However, if you
are averse to accepting cookies, you can set your browser to accept cookies (click the
advanced button after selecting options or preferences) when you enter your PIN; then you
can turn off cookies. Some people are averse to cookies because they don't want
anything written by a website to their hard disk. Cookies do not spread computer
viruses, and most websites utilize cookies. If you delete your cookie file, you will
be asked to re-enter the password and our database will count that as another of your
computer licenses.
